The Spencer and Marlene Hays Collection, exhibition, Musée d'Orsay

An exceptional collection.

A couple of American art lovers, particularly appreciative of French art, assembled an exceptional collection of nineteenth and early twentieth century works over some decades.

The friendships forged between the collectors and the Presidents of the Orsay and Orangerie museums have made it possible to arrange the presentation of this impressive collection, which includes the seventh sign for Edouard Vuillard's Public Gardens, of which the Musée d'Orsay already retains five of the nine signs. Moreover, works by Bonnard, Ranson, Roussel, several of Vuillard's haunting paintings, decorative panels by Maurice Denis and two symbolist masterpieces by Redon are also on show.
