Talented 20th century painter. From February, the Marmottan Monet Museum in Paris pays homage to Marie Laurencin, one of the most famous female painters of the twentieth century. This exhibition is the first retrospective of Laurencin to be held in a French museum.Over fifty years after her death, marking the 130th anniversary of her birth, Marie Laurencin finds her place once more on the Parisian art scene, where she had been firmly established in her time. Matisse said of her "At least, here's one that is not a warbler."Among some ninety works have been brought together at the Musée Marmottan Monet, the great majority from the museum which Japanese patrons, Mr. Takano and his son Mr. Yoshizawa dedicated to her, after she spent nearly thirty years in Tokyo, Japan.
